We at Reading Pup running an edtech platform under the name ‘Reading Pup’ accessible at https://readingpup.com (hereinafter referred to as “Reading Pup”, “We”, “Us”, and “Our”), respect Your privacy and are committed to protecting it through Our compliance with the terms and conditions set out in the paragraphs below (“Privacy Policy”). In keeping with these principles, Our Privacy Policy explains:

  1. the types of information that We may collect from You when You access or use Website and domain name offered from time to time (collectively, the “Website”); and
  2. Our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting and disclosing that information.

The privacy of Our End Users, whether You are Our Subscriber or merely a visitor to Our Website, is important to us and We are strongly committed to Your right to privacy and to keeping Your personal and other information secure. We encourage You to read Our privacy statement to understand what types of personally identifiable information We collect and how We use this information. This policy applies only to information We collect through the Website, in email, text and other electronic communications sent through or in connection with the Website. This Policy is in accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000, including all amendments made to it and rules framed there under. We do not represent that We are complaint with the laws of any country apart from the laws of the Republic of India. If You wish to use Our Website, please ensure that You are permitted to do so in Your jurisdiction.

This Privacy Policy DOES NOT apply to information that You provide to, or that is collected by, any third-party, such as information provided to Schools except when such information is uploaded on the Website by You. We encourage You to consult directly with such third-parties about their privacy practices.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully to understand Our policies and practices regarding Your information and how We will treat it. If You do not agree with Our policies and practices, Your choice is not to use the Website. By accessing or using the Website, You agree to the Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy is an integral part of Our Terms of Use. This policy may change from time to time, Your continued use of the Website, after We make changes, is deemed to be acceptance of those changes. It is accordingly recommended that You check this Privacy Policy periodically for updates. We encourage You to keep software(s)/ applications in your device up to date.

For the purposes of this Privacy Policy, the following terms shall have the meanings set out below:

“Non-Subscriber” shall refer to any person (including minor) who is not a Subscriber and has access to the Website under the control and supervision of a Subscriber.

“Subscriber” or “you” shall refer to any person or entity who wishes to open an account on the Website and avail of the services in accordance with Our Terms of Use either for himself/herself/itself or for the benefit of any Non-Subscriber.

“School” shall mean the educational institution established under the applicable laws and shall include its principal, teachers, members of the staff and any other person authorized by the School to access the Website. For the purpose of this Privacy Policy, a School shall be deemed to be a Subscriber and this Privacy Policy shall be binding on all Schools. 

“End User” shall refer to any person who has access to the Website and/or services, including Subscriber and Non-Subscriber.

  1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

In order to provide You with the services in accordance with Our Terms of Use, We collect certain information when You use the Website. The information We gather falls into the categories set out below: 

  1. Information You provide

The information that is collected from You for the usage of the Website includes the following: 

  1. Registration and Profile Information - As a part of Your usage of Website, We will ask for full name, school enrollment number, email address, postal address, password and other information You may provide with Your account, such as Your gender, contact number and school details. We may also utilize information provided vide Your preferences and/or additional information such as Your choice of electronic books, the class in which you are enrolled, Your preferences and settings such as time zone and language amongst other information.
  1. Information You Post - You also may provide information (such as Non-Subscriber’s assessment grades) to be published or displayed (hereinafter, "posted") on accessible areas of the Website, or transmitted to other Subscriber(s) of the Website (collectively, "User Contributions"). Your User Contributions are posted on and transmitted to others at Your own risk. We may display this information on the Website, share it with the School through which you have accessed our Website, and further distribute it to a wider audience through the Website or any other electronic communication. You should be careful about revealing any sensitive details about Yourself in such postings.
  1. Information We collect from Your usage of the Website
  1. Device Information - We collect device-specific information such as Your hardware model, unique device identifiers, operating system version, device language and settings, mobile network information, and IP address.

Usage Information - We collect certain information when You use the Website, such as online status; information about Your interaction with the Website, including the actions You take on the Website, viewing details, reading history, assessment grades, third party applications, application crash logs and errors, and location information. We will collect location information, unless You configure Your operating system settings to prevent Our collection of location information.

Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies - We may also collect certain information through the use of cookies, pixel tags, web beacons, mobile device IDs, “flash cookies” and similar files or technologies to collect and store information in respect to Your use of the Website and third party websites. A cookie is a small text file that is stored on Your computer that enables us to recognize You (for example, as a Subscriber) when You visit Our website, store Your preferences and settings, enhance Your experience by delivering content and advertising specific to Your interests, perform research and analytics, track Your use of the Website, and assist with security and administrative functions. Cookies may be persistent or stored only during an individual session. Reading Pup may use pixel tags to measure the popularity of Our various pages, features and services.

Flash cookies operate differently than browser cookies and cannot be removed or blocked via web browser settings. Session Data - We automatically log generic information about Your computer's connection to the Internet, which We call "session data", that is anonymous and not linked to any personal information. Session data consists of information such as the IP address, operating system, type of browser software being used by You and the activities conducted by You on Our Website. An IP address is a number that lets computers attached to the internet, such as Our web servers, know where to send data back to the user, such as the pages of the site the user wishes to view. We collect session data because it helps Us analyze things such as the items visitors are likely to click on most, the manner in which visitors click preferences on Our Website, number of visitors surfing to various pages on the site, time spent by the visitors on Our Website and frequency of their visit. We may receive information about You from other Subscribers, such as when the account is created on the Website, or when other Subscribers’ invite You to use the Website.

  2. administer the Website and diagnose technical problems;

  11. to enhance the quality of services We provide You on the Website;
  12. for our internal training and analytics purposes; and
  13. for any other purpose with Your consent.
  1. HOW WE SHARE THE INFORMATION WE COLLECT

We may not disclose personal information that We collect or You provide, as described in the Privacy Policy, except for the purposes set out below:

To a buyer or other successor in the event of a change in control, merger, demerger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution or other sale or transfer of some or all of Reading Pup’s assets, whether as a going concern or as part of bankruptcy, liquidation or similar proceeding, in which personal information held by Reading Pup about the users of the Website are among the assets transferred provided that the information shall be shared on the condition that the party receiving such information shall use the same strictly in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
  1. To third-parties to market their products or services to You if You have consented to receive the promotional updates. We contractually require these third-parties to keep personal information confidential and use it only for the purposes for which We disclose it to them. Some of these service providers and other third parties, such as analytics providers, may collect information about Your online activities over time and across different websites or online services when You use the Website. We are not responsible for the actions of third parties, nor are We responsible for any additional information You provide directly to any third parties.

  1. To other Subscriber such as School in which the Non-Subscriber is enrolled, teacher monitoring the class or any other person authorized by the School. 
  1. Service Providers 

We may share Your information with outside vendors that We use for a variety of purposes, such as to push notifications to Your mobile device on Our behalf, help us analyze use of the Website. We also may use vendors for other projects, such as conducting surveys or organizing sweepstakes for us. We may share information about You with these vendors only to enable them to perform their services.

  1. Legal Purposes

We may share Your information when We believe in good faith that such sharing is reasonably necessary in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding possible illegal activities or to comply with legal process. We may also share Your information to investigate and address threats or potential threats to the physical safety of any person, to investigate and address violations of this Privacy Policy or the Terms of Use, or to investigate and address violations of the rights of third parties and/or to protect the rights, property and safety of Reading Pup, Our employees, users, or the public. This may involve the sharing of Your information with law enforcement, government agencies, courts, and/or other organizations on account of legal request such as subpoena, court order or government demand to comply with the law.

If We believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to protect the rights, property, or safety of Reading Pup, Our customers or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organizations for the purposes of fraud protection.

We may share Your information in any other circumstances which shall be subject to Your consent.

  1. GOOGLE ANALYTICS
  1. To help us better understand Your use of the Website, We may use third-party web analytics on the Website, such as Google Analytics. These service providers use the sort of technology described in Section 1(b) above. The information collected by this technology will be disclosed to or collected directly by these service providers, who use the information to evaluate Our users’ use of the Website. We also use Google Analytics as described in the following section. To prevent Google Analytics from collecting or using Your information, You may install the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on.
  1. Do Not Track

We are committed to providing You with meaningful choices about the information collected on the Website for third party purposes. However, We do not currently recognize or respond to browser-initiated Do Not Track signals.

  1. ACCESSING AND MODIFYING YOUR INFORMATION

We will take reasonable steps to accurately record the personal information that You provide to Us and any subsequent updates. We encourage You to review, update, and correct the personal information that We maintain about You, and You may request that We delete personal information about You that is inaccurate, incomplete, or irrelevant for legitimate purposes, or are being processed in a way which infringes any applicable legal requirement.

Your right to review, update, correct, and delete Your personal information may be limited, subject to the applicable laws and shall not be accepted for the following (but not limited to) reasons: (i) if Your requests are abusive or unreasonably excessive, (ii) where the rights or safety of another End User(s) would be encroached upon, or (iii) if the information or material You request relates to existing or anticipated legal proceedings between You and Us, or providing access to You would prejudice negotiations between us or an investigation of possible unlawful activity. Your right to review, update, correct, and delete Your information is subject to Our records retention policies and applicable law, including any statutory retention requirements. 

  1. SECURITY

We take reasonable measures to protect Your personal information in an effort to prevent loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. These safeguards take into account the sensitivity of the information that We collect, process and store and the current state of technology. We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the personal information submitted to us, both during transmission and once We receive it, such as use of HTTPS. We regularly monitor our systems for possible vulnerabilities and attacks. However, please be aware, that despite Our efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable and no method of data transmission can be guaranteed against any interception or other type of misuse. Therefore, while We strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect Your personal information, We cannot guarantee its absolute security and thereby usage in a manner that is inconsistent with this Privacy Policy. However, we shall make reasonable endeavors to comply with the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011 while collection, usage and sharing of information provided by the Subscriber.

We assume no liability or responsibility for disclosure of Your information due to errors in transmission, unauthorized third-party access, or other causes beyond Our control. You play an important role in keeping Your personal information secure. You should not share Your user name, password, or other security information for Your Reading Pup account with anyone. If We receive instructions using Your contact number, email id or account, We will consider that You have authorized the instructions for the same. 

Further, information contained in email messages may not be secure/encrypted and may be viewed by third parties. Subscriber shall ensure that Non-Subscriber acting under his/her  control and supervision may therefore exercise caution while including personal information/data in any email that you may wish to send to Us.  

  1. END USER UNDER THE AGE OF 18 YEARS

The Website’s End User may be users under the age of 18 years, such as students enrolled in a School. During the usage of the Website, the Subscriber or the Non-Subscriber under the control and supervision of a Subscriber may be requested to furnish certain information (including personal information) to us pertaining to minors. We are committed to upholding the privacy and security of the information that is provided to us. Where the Subscriber accesses the Website for the benefit of any Non-Subscriber and allows such Non-Subscriber to avail of the services in accordance with Our Terms of Use, the Subscriber shall be deemed to have read out and explained this Privacy Policy fully to the Non-Subscriber, and further that the Subscriber shall at all times be liable for any and every action or omission of such Non-Subscriber’s usage of the Site. Wherever applicable, the Subscriber shall be liable for all conditions, consents, obligations, notices and covenants contained in this Privacy Policy notwithstanding the fact that actual user of the services may be a Non-Subscriber.   

  1. THIRD PARTY LINKS AND SERVICES

The Website may contain links to third-party websites. Your use of these features may result in the collection, processing or sharing of information about You, depending on the feature. Please be aware that We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of other websites or services which may be linked on the Website. We do not endorse or make any representations about third-party websites or services. Our Privacy Policy does not cover the information You choose to provide to or that is collected by these third parties. We strongly encourage You to read such third parties’ privacy policies.

  1. ACCOUNT TERMINATION AND DATA RETENTION

You can close Your account on the Website with the prior permission of Your School (in case of a Non-Subscriber) by writing to us at support@readingpup.com. Upon receipt of any such request for closure/ termination of account, We will: (i) log You out of Your account; (ii) disable any future login into Your account; and (iii) cease sending You push notifications through the Website. In the event of any such termination, We may retain information about You in case You later decide to reactivate Your account and for the purposes authorized under this Privacy Policy unless prohibited by law.  Please note that We will continue to store certain information  as may be required to comply with the applicable laws, law enforcement requests, resolve disputes, maintain security, prevent fraud and abuse, enhance the services of other Subscriber(s) and enforce our rights under the applicable laws and the contractual arrangement with You.

Information that an End User has shared with third parties (which may or may not be a Subscriber) during the validity of the account shall remain visible even after such End User has closed the account or deleted the information from his/ her own profile or workflow, and we do not control data that other End Users may have copied out of our Website. An End User’s profile may continue to be displayed in the services of others (e.g., reports and other records) until they raise a specific request for dissociating such Subscriber and refresh their cache.

  1. CHANGES TO THE PRIVACY POLICY

Our services provided to the End Users are dynamic and We often introduce new features, which may require the collection of new data from Subscribers or Non-Subscribers accessing the Website under the supervision of a Subscriber. If We collect materially different information or materially change how We use the information collected from You, We will notify You and will also modify this Privacy Policy.

Your or a Non-Subscriber’s continued use of Our services after We publish or notify You about Our changes to this Privacy Policy means that You are consenting to the updated Privacy Policy.
